What is a phobia?

A phobia is an intense, irrational fear of a specific object, situation, or activity, causing significant distress or avoidance.

What are some of the most common phobias?

  1. Arachnophobia: Fear of spiders
  2. Acrophobia: Fear of heights
  3. Claustrophobia: Fear of confined spaces
  4. Agoraphobia: Fear of situations where escape might be difficult or help wouldn’t be available
  5. Ophidiophobia: Fear of snakes
  6. Aviophobia: Fear of flying
  7. Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia): Fear of social situations or scrutiny by others
  8. Trypophobia: Fear of clusters of small holes or irregular patterns
  9. Astraphobia: Fear of thunder and lightning
  10. Mysophobia: Fear of germs or dirt

During an initial consultation we will explore what is happening for you and work together to move past it. If your phobia is a simple phobia (heights; spiders; needles; public speaking; dentists or flying) we can normally treat within just 3-4 sessions. Complex phobias will be more.
